STEELWORKS

For my second group project, I took on the role of the lead and sole programmer for STEELWORKS, a puzzle-strategy mobile game. My responsibilities encompassed the entire technical development of the game, including implementing core gameplay mechanics, optimizing performance for mobile devices. This project allowed me to demonstrate my problem-solving skills and ability to translate game design concepts into functional and unique gameplay. Working on STEELWORKS strengthened my expertise in mobile game development and highlighted my ability to work independently while collaborating with a team to achieve a shared creative vision.

Retro Ping Pong: A Remake of the Classic Ping Pong Game

For Assignment 1 in Fundamentals of Game Technology, I developed Retro Ping Pong, a modern rendition of the beloved classic game. In the Game Document Writing assignment, I was tasked with creating a comprehensive game document. This project allowed me to showcase my skills in game design and documentation. I thoroughly researched and developed a detailed plan covering various aspects such as game mechanics, objectives, characters, and levels. Completing this assignment, I demonstrated my ability to effectively communicate ideas and concepts through written documentation.

Retro Ping Pong: A Remake of the Classic Ping Pong Game

Retro Ping Pong includes multiple action modes with distinct rules. These include the Secret Wall Mode, the Fireball Mode, the Multiball Mode, the Big Ball Little Paddles Mode, the Fog Zone Mode, the Gravity Well Mode, the Bumper Ball Mode, the Don't Hit the Kitty Mode, and the Blaster Mode. To win each round, players must navigate different obstacles and obstacles.

Feature 1: Cursed Mode 

  • The cursed mode feature gives players access to the most difficult level of a classic Ping Pong game. Include "Two Cursed Balls" in the "Cursed Mode" scene and give them a velocity of 90, transforming the game mode into a survival and sacrifice genre.

Feature 2: Inverted Control 

  • The use of inverted controls in video games can serve as a mechanism to increase the level of difficulty and the element of unpredictability.

COSMIC CONQUEST

(A New Remake of the Classic Vertical Shoot Em' Up Game)

 

For Assignment 2 in the Fundamentals of Game Technology, I successfully developed a vertical Shoot 'Em Up game. In my portfolio, I have chosen to showcase the Cosmic Conquest game for this particular assignment.

COSMIC CONQUEST

(A New Remake of the Classic Vertical Shoot Em' Up Game)

  • To earn points and power-ups in this game, the player must engage in survival and elimination.

  • In the context of the game, players receive a total of three lives, which they must employ strategically to survive and eliminate enemies.

  • There are two distinct game modes in the Cosmic Conquest game: Normal mode and Endless mode.

The Control Scheme of the Cosmic Conquest

The Upper, Lower, Left, and Right Arrow keys are used for navigation in Cosmic Conquest. Players can repeatedly move forward, backwards, or fire by pressing the' Z' key. Players can use the Back button to return to the previous menu or screen. This system ensures strategic gameplay and decision-making.

Player Skills or Upgrades of the Cosmic Conquest

Cosmic Conquest is a game for two players with two PowerUps and one Health Up. The PowerUp increases the number of bullets by generating a PowerUp item when enemies are eliminated. The system employs a Random Number Generator (RNG) with a 50% drop rate and a random integer. Health Up increases the player's health by 1 and has a 25% chance to drop. The game maintains balance by limiting Health Ups to a maximum of three. Both parties can materialize in a shared location when the Health Up hits the player.

Life Scape, a Slide Scroller Game

As Assignment 3 for the Fundamentals of Game Technology, I decided on Life Scape, a Slide Scroller game. The assignment requires us to create a Life Scape game document.

Life Scape, a Slide Scroller Game

The Main Menu of the Life Scape game is an interactive tutorial and title screen with four NPCs:

  • Guide NPCs, Brother and Mother, and a guide NPC. Guide NPCs direct the controls, whereas Brother and Mother NPCs pose obstacles.

The menu is divided into four sections:

  • Instructions, speaker settings, door settings, and normal NPC information.

The Objective of Life Scape Game

The objective of the game is for the player to reach the bottom of the screen and explore various regions of the house. They encounter the mother, a non-playable character, on the side of the house. The mother assists the player in unlocking the front door, which remains unlocked until the player enters the designated area.

The Rules & Instructions

Life Scape is an innovative and thought-provoking game that immerses players in the domestic life of a virtual person. Its attention to detail distinguishes it from other games because it replicates various aspects of a person's daily life, allowing players to engage in activities such as searching for lost items and interacting with virtual family members. This interaction gives players the impression that they are living the character's life.

GIGANTECHS - MY FIRST GAME PROJECT

A group called Olympus, consisting of four individuals are on a quest to stop a big corporation, Tartarus, in ostracizing the lower class. Beneath all the social exclusion, Tartarus does human experimentations on orphans. One of which escaped and is now with Olympus, trying to stop the corporation.

Retro Ping Pong - Codes to change the Velocity

Codes for changing the Velocity in Retro Ping Pong
I successfully implemented code to modify the velocity of the ping pong ball. By utilizing various programming techniques, I was able to create an engaging and dynamic gameplay experience. One of the key aspects of Retro Ping Pong is the ability to change the velocity of the ball. This feature adds an extra layer of challenge and excitement to the game.

Retro Ping Pong - Codes for the Paddle

I have developed a set of codes that enhance the paddle functionality in the classic game of Ping Pong. By implementing these codes, I have successfully improved the paddle's responsiveness when it collides with the ball, making the game more interesting.

Cosmic Conquest - Enemy 1 Code 
In this archive, you will find the meticulously crafted codes specifically designed for the implementation of Enemy 1. These codes serve as the backbone of the game, enabling the seamless integration of Enemy 1.

In this project, I was responsible for developing the codes for Enemy 2 in the game "Cosmic Conquest." The main objective was to create a challenging and dynamic enemy character that would engage players and enhance their gaming experience.

Cosmic Conquest - RNG Spawn Enemy 1 Code 
As part of the development team for the exciting space-themed game, Cosmic Conquest, I was responsible for creating the code that handles the random generation of Enemy 1 spawns. This code plays a crucial role in enhancing the game's dynamic and unpredictable nature, providing players with a challenging and immersive game.

Cosmic Conquest - RNG Spawn Enemy 2 Code 
In the game Cosmic Conquest, I successfully developed a robust code to spawn enemies using a Random Number Generator (RNG). This code enhances the gameplay experience by introducing unpredictability and variety in enemy encounters.

Life Scape - Cut Scene Coding 
As part of the Life Scape project, I was responsible for coding the captivating cut scenes that bring the game's narrative to life. By utilizing my expertise in coding and game development, I successfully implemented the necessary scripts and algorithms to create seamless transitions and visually stunning sequences.
